CARE AND CLEANING
New Zealand wool rugs
Our tufted rugs are crafted from New Zealand wool, a fiber known for its natural self-cleaning properties.
To maintain the rug's appearance, vacuum regularly using a high-pile setting. Some shedding is normal with wool rugs, especially at first. In case of spills, promptly blot the affected area with a damp cloth or paper towel to soak up as much liquid as possible. Using water can help break down and lift the spill. For deeper cleaning, a mild, clear soap diluted in water may be used as needed.
Bamboo Silk rugs
Avoid cleaning rug with water, this is very important.
Water can stain bamboo silk. Cellulose chemically reacts when combined with water and may produce a yellowish colour.
Citric or acetic acid solutions work best for cleaning.
Never rub at spills as it may warp the pile; instead, blot with paper towel or white cloth to remove as much as possible then clean with a citric acid powder solution. Start at the edge of the stain and work inwards.
For thicker spills spoon off as much as possible then proceed with stain remover.
For dark liquid stains, i.e red wine, poor salt over spill to absorb liquid first then spoon off.
Apply cleaner as conservatively as you can, bamboo silk is a very absorbent material and you should avoid soaking.
Only dry rug spills on a cool air setting, heat is detrimental to the material.
We would suggest getting your rug professionally cleaned every few years for maintenance.
